Standard (hot) tier, 1 TB = 1,000 GB. Minimum storage durations and retrieval fees for cold tiers aren’t modelled.
Provider types (Hyperscaler, Cloud provider storage, Standalone storage) group services by what they include, not by price. Hover a type for its definition, or see how we assign them.
Need EU residency? Turn on the EU filter to pick a plan that includes it, which may cost more. “EU plan available” alone does not mean the price shown includes residency. Shared links save your inputs and filters, but prices can change.

Object storage pricing explained
What drives the bill
Storage itself is cheap almost everywhere, a few dollars to about $25 per TB per month. Egress is where bills diverge. Hyperscalers charge around $90–120 per TB to the internet. Others make egress free, or free up to a multiple of what you store. If you serve files to users, egress usually decides which vendor is cheapest.
Costs the calculator leaves out
- Minimum storage durations: deleted objects may still be billed for 30–90 days on some vendors.
- Minimum object sizes and per-object overhead, which matter with millions of small files.
- Cold and archive tiers. They are cheaper to store but charge retrieval fees, and the calculator models hot storage only.
- Replication between regions and data transfer between clouds.
- Fair-use egress limits. Vendors with “free egress” may cap it relative to stored data, and the calculator marks rows that go over.
When paying more makes sense
Keeping storage near your compute can avoid internet transfer charges. Check the cloud’s lifecycle rules, event notifications and compliance features before moving. For backups or files served directly to users, cheaper egress can make a large difference. S3-compatible tools may need only a new endpoint and credentials, but test the API features you use.
