Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite (via Gemini API)

Translation with Google's small Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite model, priced from Gemini API token rates rather than per character.

A low-cost route for teams already using the Gemini API, at a derived $0.54 per 1M characters, or about $0.27 through the Batch API. On the shared assumptions that is still more than GPT-6 Luna or Mistral Small 4, mainly because output tokens cost $1.50 per million. The Developer API has no EU data residency and free-tier content may be used to improve Google products; regional processing needs Vertex AI at separate prices.

Derived from token prices: $0.25 per 1M input tokens, $1.50 per 1M output tokens (standard paid tier). 0.35 x $0.25 + 0.30 x $1.50 = $0.0875 + $0.45 = $0.54 per 1M characters. Assumptions (shared by all LLM-derived rows): English source at ~4 characters per token, so 1M characters = 250k source tokens; a ~200-token prompt per 2,000-character chunk adds 500 x 200 = 100k tokens, giving 350k input tokens per 1M characters; output for European target languages ~1.2x the source = 300k tokens. Cost per 1M characters = 0.35 x input price + 0.30 x output price (per 1M tokens). Non-Latin target languages (CJK, Arabic, Hindi) and non-English sources can use noticeably more tokens. The Batch API halves token prices (~$0.27/M chars); context caching of a long shared prompt cuts input further. Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite ($0.30/$2.50) works out at $0.86/M chars. The Gemini Developer API has no EU data residency; regional processing needs Vertex AI (separate pricing).
