deSEC
Free, donation-funded DNS hosting with automatic DNSSEC, run by a Berlin non-profit on open-source software.
deSEC provides free DNS hosting with automatic DNSSEC, funded by donations and grants. It has no SLA, and we found no documented DPA or EU-only residency option. Accounts have a domain limit that can be raised on request. The MIT-licensed software is also available to run yourself.

Operated by deSEC e.V. (registered association, AG Berlin-Charlottenburg VR37525), funded by donations and grants (e.g. NLnet, RIPE NCC). Stack is MIT-licensed (github.com/desec-io/desec-stack). Accounts have a domain limit; the API docs say to contact support if it blocks a legitimate use. No SLA. EU data residency and DPA availability were not documented in pages we could read, so both are false.
Managed alternatives
At 50 hosted zones, 1B queries / month. Adjust usage and requirements.
deSEC: $0/yr estimated.
No cheaper managed estimate matches your filters. Adjust your usage or compare with your actual contract bill.
The price difference leaves out migration costs, operating costs and any features you’d need to replace.
Self-hosted options
Operating cost is not estimated. These options are not counted as savings against managed services.
